More than 100 bird species have been seen in Levadi marsh . On one side this semi-flooded marsh area is bordered by the sea. A road to a quarry runs on one side along from the sea and on the other side the marsh is overlooked by a hillside. The small wetland attracts wading birds such as Garça-branca-pequena, Garça-branca-grande, Papa-ratos and Marrequinha-comum. Also Guarda-rios-comum can be seen. The surrounding reeded pools, scrubland and fir trees also attract tits, finches, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis and Toutinegra-de-cabeça-preta. It’s also common to see Abelharuco-comum and buzzards and eagles in this area.
