Descrição
The lagoon is the 'waterlily lake' mentioned by Gerald Durrell in My Family and Other Animals. However it appeared lifeless on my September visit. The island has 3 beaches, accessible by car, and good scrub and heath habitat favoured by warblers, Trigueirão, Mocho-d'orelhas and Rola-comum. A pair of Águia-real were hunting over the wooded hills on return journey to Roda. Other birds you can enconter are Andorinha-dáurica, Andorinhão-real, Androinha-das-rochas, Toutinegra-carrasqueira, Toutinegra-de-cabeça-preta and Toutinegra-real.
