Just east of the Polichnitos saltpans, the Almyropotamos river is located and runs towards the Gulf of Kalloni. You can search the river for migrating herons, egrets, storks, crakes and waders, like Franga-d'água-bastarda, Cegonha-preta and Pilrito de Temminck. The surrounding fields are good for flocks of wagtails, pipits and larks, like Petinha-dos-campos, and the fences in the area are worth a check for chats and shrikes.
