Descrição
While you can obviously expect to see captive birds here, Wilhelma is also home to a few wild birds species. Garça-real and Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas nest in the treetops near the front of the zoo, while Ganso do Egipto and the previously mentioned species enjoy hanging around in the penguin and pelican exhibits. Galinha-d'água can be found frequently, especially near the front of the zoo, where they like the flamingo exhibit. Pombo-torcaz and Pombo-doméstico are found alongside songbirds such as Pisco-de-peito-ruivo, chapim-real, Pardal-comum, and melro.
Bird photographers may enjoy the entry area of Wilhelma, because herons, cormorants, geese, moorhens, and more all get quite close. You could try and go around the time when the penguins and pelicans are being fed to get close to herons and cormorants, although they'll likely be close anyways.
