Descrição
The small town of Wassersuppe lies on the banks of the extensive Hohennauener See, on the edge of the Westhavelland nature park. Close to the village a narrow channel (Große Havelländische Hauptkanal) of 3 km is connecting two lakes. From the bridge you have a good view over the reed area, the river and the lake. In the morning you can see a variety of birds: Cuco-canoro sit in the trees near the bridge. Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Águia-pesqueira, Milhafre-real frequent the reeds, sometimes a Águia-rabalva comes hunting in the lake. Grou-comum, Cegonha-branca, Cisne-vulgar, Garça-real are frequently seen in the wet areas around the river. Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços and other warblers can be heard and seen in the river area.
Best thing to do is bring a canoe or rent one in the nearby village (next to the church is a boat rental) and paddle along the channel. The birds are used to canoes and small boats. You can see the birds from really close (< 50 meters) hunting on fish in the river.
