Descrição
Viernheimer Heide is a heathland area with adjacent coniferous and mixed forests. It is particularly characterized by dry grassland and sandy areas in which many rare bird species can be observed, especially in spring and summer. Breeding birds include, for example, Petinha-das-árvores, Papa-moscas-preto, Cotovia-pequena, Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca, Papa-figos, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Cuco-canoro, Torcicolo, Bútio-vespeiro, Noitibó da Europa and Poupa. Various species such as Cartaxo-nortenho and Chasco-cinzento can be seen in the area during migration.
