Descrição
Taubergießen is a floodplain wetland in the Upper Rhine region. It spans about 1,700 hectares, making it one of the largest protected areas in Baden-Württemberg. The wetland plays a crucial role in flood management and habitat conservation and is home to many birds.
In the alluvial forests breed Rola-comum, Papa-figos and Ógea. Near the Altrhein you can spot Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Garça-branca-grande, and sometimes Garça-branca-pequena, Águia-pesqueira and Águia-rabalva. In addition, many resting migratory birds can be observed like Piadeira, Marreco, and Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo.

Taubergießen is located close to the towns of Kappel-Grafenhausen, Rust, Rheinhausen and the French town of Rhinau. You can easily park at the Taubergießen Ecological Station. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. From there you can explore the area on foot or by bike if you stay on the paths. There are several marked trails.
