Struffelt is a nature reserve of heath and moorland. The Struffeltkopf (450 m above sea level) gives the area its name. In addition to the heather moor, which provides a habitat for numerous birds, there is a forest and a reservoir right next to it. It would be difficult to discover fewer than 30 different bird species here. Interesting birds include the Cartaxo-comum, Petinha-das-árvores, Pica-pau-preto, Estrelinha-de-cabeça-listada, Papa-moscas-cinzento and Papa-moscas-preto.

Struffelt nature reserve is located 14 km southwest of the city of Aachen and just north of the town of Roetgen. At the entrance to the area there is a bus stop and a hiking parking lot (Wanderparkplatz Dreilägertalsperre, Jägerhausstraße, 52159 Roetgen). Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 6 km.
