With multiple lakes, vast reedlands and wet meadows with multiple lookout towers and one larger observation tower Strengsee/Rietzersee is a reliable site for various sorts of reed- and waterbirds such as Arrabio , Pato-trombeteiro , Piadeira , Frisada . Also Pisco-de-peito-azul , Chapim-de-bigode, Chapim-de-faces-pretas are possible.
In autumn and winter it is an important site for geese, Grou-comum, grebes and ducks. The large flocks of geese sometimes attract Águia-rabalva . Other birds of prey include harriers, kites and buzzards.

The observation tower can best be reached via Netzen. Follow the signs "Beobachtungsturm" there is a parking area very close to the tower. From there walk to the tower which provides a nice view over the lake, and then follow the canal which goes to Rietzer See.
