Descrição
Since the renaturation was completed in 2002, the Seeanger has developed into an important area, especially during migration mainly for waders and ducks. A five hectar pond is surrounded by wet meadows, reeds and a few scattered bushes making this a diverse site attractive to a wide selection of species. Spring migration is best with Piadeira, Pato-trombeteiro, Arrabio, Marrequinha-comum, Marreco and Frisada all occurring regularly in March and April. 32 wader species have been observed here with Combatente, Perna-vermelha-escuro, Pássaro-bique-bique, Maçarico-bastardo and Narceja-comum being regular migrants. However numbers of birds are dependant upon water levels.
The Seeanger is used as a breeding site by species like Abibe-comum, Frisada (not every year), Frango-d'água, Pisco-de-peito-azul or Felosa-unicolor. In winter, the area is usually quiet with only few birds around though Chapim-de-bigode turned up regularly in the last few years.
