Landscape conservation area LSG Schwetzinger Wiesen consists of a mosaic of different habitats. In addition to quarry ponds, there are hedges, willow bushes and extensively used lowland meadows. This landscape offers space for many, sometimes rare, animals and plants. You can observe many water-dependent birds such as Zarro-negrinha, Ganso-comum, Ganso do Egipto and Marreco.
Cegonha-branca and, more rarely, the Cegonha-preta can also be seen . Waders such as Pássaro-bique-bique, Maçarico-bastardo, Narceja-comum, Abibe-comum, Perna-verde-comum and Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira often rest on the mudflats. Sometimes, especially during migration, rarities can be found here, such as Colhereiro, Íbis-preta, , Petinha-de-garganta-ruiva, Garça-branca-pequena and Maçarico-galego.
