In Schellbruch reserve close to the city of Lübeck you find different types of habitats with a great variety of birds in a rather small area (although the complete reserve is not small at all. The reserve is managed by the NABU (German organisation for protecting nature) and a local organic farmer.
Good all year through but best in late spring. Fantastic place for Pisco-de-peito-azul, Felosa-unicolor, Chapim-de-bigode, Águia-rabalva and Woodpeckers. In autumn also great flocks of geese in some years. Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira and Abibe-comum occur as well as Guarda-rios-comum. Winter is good for Picanço-grande, Merganso-pequeno, Merganso-grande and sometimes Abetouro-comum.
