The shallow water ponds of nature reserve Rieselfelder Nottuln-Appelhülsen are of particular importance as moulting, resting and breeding places for waders and waterfowl. It is also a habitat that is particularly valuable for endangered plant and animal species. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Escrevedeira-dos-caniços, Ganso-grande-de-testa-branca, Ganso-de-faces-brancas, Marrequinha-comum. Mergulhão-pequeno, Cuco-canoro, Ostraceiro, Abibe-comum, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira and Felosa-dos-juncos.

The nature reserve is located directly to the south of the village of Appelhülsen. It can be reached by bicycle and car. Parking nearby. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking it is a short walk to the bird hide.
