Moosschwaige has surprisingly varied habitats. There are reedbeds (rouxinol-dos-caniços, Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços), ponds and streams (Frango-d'água, Guarda-rios-comum) with attached wetland being actively maintained by beavers. There are also woods and grassland.
Star species are Felosa-icterina, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo and Cuco-canoro in the summer, Picanço-grande in the winter, and woodpeckers all year round, including Pica-pau-malhado-pequeno , Pica-pau-cinzento and Pica-pau-preto.
