The Landschaftspark Hachinger Tal is a 150 hectares area in the south of Munich that is part of the Munich gravel plain. It contains the rest of a heath area and was used as a military airfield from 1933 to 1997, with the runway still existing. From March on, you hear the sound of singing Laverca from the meadows, in May/June also sometimes Codorniz. There are protected areas for meadow breeders, see local signs. In spring there are birdsongs from Escrevedeira-amarela and Ferreirinha-comum in the bushes, while in May/June you find Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo and singing Felosa-das-figueiras, Felosa-icterina and Felosa-palustre.
During spring and autumn migration good chances of Cartaxo-comum, Cartaxo-nortenho, Chasco-cinzento or Papa-moscas-preto, with luck also rare migrants like Poupa or Petinha-dos-campos. In winter especially the little stream (Hachinger Bach) can be interesting, with Guarda-rios-comum, Alvéola-cinzenta and sometimes Narceja-comum or Narceja-galega. From time to time several rarities have been observed in the park, like Coruja-do-nabal, Picanço-pequeno and Toutinegra-carrasqueira.

The Landschaftspark Hachinger Tal is located in the south of Munich. From Munich you can get there by train (S-Bahn), bus or bike. When you arive by by car there are several parking options: Unterhaching (An der Hachinger Haid), Neubiberg (Auf der Heid), Ottobrunn, (Haidgraben, near Kathi-Weidner-Weg). Click on a P in the map for directions. You can explore the Landschaftspark best on foot or by bike. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 7,5 km.
