Descrição
The Kuhlenvenn is a 67 hectare nature reserve and a remnant of the Weißen Venns (White Fens), the largest moorland area in Westphalia. No remains of the former raised bog have been preserved. But the Kuhlenvenn was redeveloped into a nature reserve and nowadays consists of extensively used grassland, wet meadows and a lake. The Kuhlenvenn is an important reserve for water, wading and meadow birds which use the area for breeding, foraging, resting or wintering. Among the birds you can encounter are Maçarico-real, Abibe-comum, Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Ostraceiro, alvéola-amarela, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Cartaxo-comum and Mergulhão-pequeno.
