Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Cisne-vulgar and Galeirão-comum. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Andorinha-das-barreiras, and Ostraceiro breeds on the gravelly flat banks. rouxinol-dos-caniços, Felosa-palustre and Escrevedeira-dos-caniços live in the reed beds, while Rouxinol-comum and Chapim-de-faces-pretas live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Papa-amoras-comum and papa-amoras-cinzento, while peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro, Papa-figos and Pardal-montez breed in the trees. Perdiz-cinzenta, Cartaxo-nortenho, Cotovia-de-poupa and Chasco-cinzento live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Tundra Bean Goose, Ganso-grande-de-testa-branca, Zarro-comum, Zarro-negrinha and Merganso-grande.
