Descrição
In winter, the Hurstsee is home to a great number and variety of ducks and other waterbirds. There are good numbers (between 15 and 100+) of Pato-real, Frisada, Zarro-negrinha, Zarro-comum, Galeirão-comum and Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas.
Smaller groups of Marrequinha-comum and Mergulhão-de-crista can usually be seen scattered across the lake. Ganso do Egipto and Cisne-vulgar are often present, as well as Garça-branca-grande, Garça-real, Guarda-rios-comum and Alvéola-cinzenta along the fringes of the lake.
With a bit of luck, you can also see Merganso-grande, Piadeira, Arrabio, Marreco (on spring migration) or even a stunning Merganso-pequeno here!
Waterbirds are the main attraction, but the trees and bushes around the lake are worth checking too. There are plenty of common woodland / garden birds, plus a good chance of seeing (or hearing) any of the following: Lugre, Bico-grossudo, Dom-fafe, Ferreirinha-comum, Estrelinha-de-cabeça-listada, Tordo-ruivo-comum and Pica-pau-preto.
