The lake Hornsee - also known as Emma-Süd - is a former brown coal excavation site. It’s part of the Kahler Seenplatte, a cluster of lakes shaped by industrial history and now reclaimed by nature and recreation. There is a little path along the Hornsee where you are likely to see Mergulhão-de-crista and Galeirão-comum (or if you luck out like me, you might see a Águia-rabalva flying through) that leads to the path along the river Main where you can see Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, Ganso do Canadá , Ganso-comum, and possibly even Merganso-grande. You can circle around to where the river Kahl meets the river Main and follow along the Kahl to see Pato-real and Guarda-rios-comum.

Acesso
The Hornsee is located between Großkrotzenburg in Hesse and Kahl am Main in Bavaria. You can get there by parking on a nearby street or you can take the train or bus and walk there, though it is quite the walk (~30 minutes). Unfortunately there is no bus stop that is genuinely nearby. There is a path that leads to the Hornsee just before you would leave Kahl to drive to Großkrotzenburg. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 2,5 km.
