The Horbachpark was created as part of the state garden show of 1988. The little Horbach stream flows through the park and into a lake. There are many paths and benches throughout the park. The lake and the surrounding grass and reed fringes are home to Cisne-vulgar, Pato-real, Galeirão-comum and Galinha-d'água. Around the edges of the park and beyond, there is an attractive mix of gardens and allotments. These host a good variety of Tits, Finches and Woodpeckers, including Chapim-palustre, Chapim-rabilongo, Bico-grossudo, Lugre and Pica-pau-verde.
In the woods adjacent to the park, it is possible to observe Chapim-preto, Chapim-de-poupa and Estrelinha-de-poupa. Raptors like Águia-d'asa-redonda, Milhafre-real and Açor can often be seen soaring over the woods and slopes above the town. If you're in Ettlingen the park is well worth a visit. It's also a great place to combine family time at the playground with a bit of birding.
