Waders stop at the Holzendorfer See during the spring and autumn migration. Maybe not in huge numbers, but there is a large species diversity: Combatente, Abibe-comum, Perna-verde-comum, Perna-vermelha-escuro, Perna-vermelha-comum, Maçarico-bastardo, Maçarico-das-rochas, Pássaro-bique-bique, Pilrito-comum, Pilrito-de-bico-comprido, Pilrito-pequeno, Pilrito de Temminck, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira and Narceja-comum. There is a chance for rarer species like Pilrito-falcinelo, Seixoeira and Pilrito-sanderlingo. Also observed here are Pilrito-peitoral and Abibe-de-cauda-branca. In the spring, all the "spring" ducks also stop here: Pato-trombeteiro, Arrabio, Marreco, Marrequinha-comum and Piadeira. In late autumn you can meet here a large number of Grou-comum and Cisne-bravo. During the breeding season Abibe-comum, Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira and Ganso-comum nest here.

Preferably by car. Holzendorfer See is about 15 minutes from Prenzlau. The village of Holzendorf can also be reached by bus. The route along the lake runs along an overgrown dirt road from the village on the southern bank of the water reservoir, from where there is the best access.
