The Herrenteich attracts various waders (Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Perna-verde-comum, Perna-vermelha-escuro, Maçarico-bastardo, Pássaro-bique-bique, Narceja-comum), especially during migration times. These birds are less common regionally. You can often see the Guarda-rios-comum, Alvéola-cinzenta, Milhafre-preto, Milhafre-real and various ducks and geese. From time to time Cegonha-preta, Gavião da Europa, Açor are flying over. Now and then, Águia-pesqueira, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, and Ógea can also be seen.
The area can be seen from two sides and the footbridges can be walked on. One side of the lake is overgrown with trees. Another is covered with reeds.
