Main reason for visiting this site is the above mentioned rare bunting. Other potential species include Petinha-das-árvores, Milhafre-preto, Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca and Pintarroxo-comum.
The walk is at the beginning simple and without difficulties. However, pay attention on the descent under (and after) bad weather as the trail is steep and sandy. The direct connection from the "Edelweiß" to the car park is not advisable, because climbing is required.

The car park of the "Falteshütte" is situated on the B 26 just north of Karlstadt. If you want to reach the site by public transport take the train to Karlstadt and afterwards the bus line 8060 to the nearby village Gambach just north of the site (new path to the circuit walk is marked on the map) or cycle to the car park.
