Freiburg is a city worth a visit and the Rieselfeld is close enough to be compatible with a visit to the town. In the wet areas, you can find wetland-loving birds such as ducks, Narceja-comum, Maçarico-bastardo, Garça-branca-grande, Frango-d'água, Abibe-comum and Garça-real. Other birds you can see in the surrounding area are Torcicolo, Cuco-canoro, Picanço-grande, Milhafre-real, Milhafre-preto, Laverca, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Cartaxo-comum and Papa-amoras-comum. In the forest areas that are adjacent to the nature reserve breed Pica-pau-malhado-pequeno, Pica-pau-mediano, Pica-pau-preto, Papa-figos and Trepadeira-azul.
