Gedenkstätte Stresow is a little memorial of World War II located in the Wendland in midst of a lot of nature. Right next to the memorial is a small lake, where you can often see Merganso-pequeno, Merganso-grande and several species of duck in Winter.
A few hundred meters futher there is an observation tower with a nice view over the partially flooded meadows and small bodies of water. In winter they are getting used as a wintering and migration place for thousands of ducks and geese such as Arrabio, Pato-olho-d'ouro, Piadeira, Frisada, Marrequinha-comum, Marreco, Pato-trombeteiro, Zarro-comum, Zarro-negrinha, Pato-branco, Ganso-de-faces-brancas, Ganso-grande-de-testa-branca, Ganso-campestre and Cisne-bravo. If you are lucky than you can spot a Picanço-grande in the bushes.
During migration times many waders visit the area. You can observe Abibe-comum, Pilrito-comum, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Maçarico-real, Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Maçarico-das-rochas, Narceja-comum, Maçarico-bastardo, Pássaro-bique-bique, Perna-vermelha-escuro, Perna-vermelha-comum, Perna-verde-comum and sometimes Combatente. On the water bodies you can sometimes spot grebes such as Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo or Mergulhão-pequeno or see a Guarda-rios-comum.
For a better look there is a route on the dike through the meadows so you can see the whole area from different sides. In the summer there are many swallows and Grou-comum , herons and Cegonha-branca. Garça-real and Garça-branca-grande are not uncommon, with a bit of luck you even can see a pair of Cegonha-preta.
From the power poles, the bushes and out of the reed you can hear the songs of Escrevedeira-dos-caniços, Trigueirão, Escrevedeira-amarela, Papa-amoras-comum, Felosa-dos-juncos, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços, Cartaxo-nortenho, Cartaxo-comum, Laverca and see for example Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo or alvéola-amarela.
Over the whole year you can spot many different birds of prey. From the observation tower you can see Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis flying over the reed beds, in the whole area Águia-d'asa-redonda, Milhafre-real and peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro are not uncommon. On very good days you can even see a falcão-peregrino or Bútio-vespeiro. Also often seen are Milhafre-preto, Tartaranhão-azulado and Águia-pesqueira and sometimes more down by the river Aland in the trees sit one or two Águia-rabalva.

Feuchtwiesen Gedenkstätte Stresow is located east of the villages of Kapern and Gummern and north of the village of Aulosen. There are two roads to the memorial Stresow. One is a dirt road from Kapern, safer is the normal road from Aulosen. On the memorial is a parking space, where you can park your car. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. From there it is better to walk or to ride a bike. You can also easily connect the visit with a bike tour through the beautiful landscape of Wendland.
