Descrição
The forest of the Dreiborner Hochfläche was not cultivated in the almost 60 years in which the area was a military training area and has largely reached a jungle-like condition due to no longer cleared old and dead wood. The national park administration has set itself the goal of preserving this natural forest as a habitat for partially rare animal species such as the European wildcat and establishing specially protected rest areas around breeding colonies for Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, Garça-real and Cegonha-preta. The open highlands area is perfect to see openland birds like Laverca, Petinha-dos-prados, Cartaxo-comum, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo or Cuco-canoro.
