Descrição
The Kugelbake is a historic day beacon in the city of Cuxhaven at the northernmost point of Lower Saxony, where the River Elbe flows into the North Sea. The Kugelbake stands at a busy shipping lane and was once a vital nautical landmark. At this point, the estuary is about 18 km wide. Because the Kugelbake stands on the end of a dam and protrudes far into the water, it is a nice place for birding. You can overlook the beach, the harbor and the sea at the same time. Among the birds you can observe are Pato-branco, Ganso-de-faces-negras, Ganso-de-bico-curto, Cisne-bravo, Ganso-pequeno-de-testa-branca, Zarro-bastardo, Eider-edredão, Pato-fusco, Pato-preto, Pato-olho-d'ouro, Merganso-grande, Merganso-de-poupa, Alfaiate, Ostraceiro, Tarambola-cinzenta, Tarambola-dourada, Maçarico-real, Rola-do-mar, Seixoeira, Pilrito-sanderlingo, Pilrito-comum, Pilrito-escuro, Perna-vermelha-comum, Mobêlha-pequena, Águia-rabalva, Cotovia-cornuda, Chasco-cinzento and Escrevedeira-das-neves.
