The Büchelberg is a very diverse nature reserve. On the heath fields you can see many different bird species. The forest area of the nature reserve is also rich in birds and home to many woodpecker species and songbirds. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Chapim-azul, chapim-real, Pisco-de-peito-ruivo, Tordo-comum, Tordeia, Carriça, Pica-pau-preto, Pica-pau-malhado-grande, chapim-montês and Pica-pau-verde.
