Descrição
The Borkener See with its nutrient-poor body of water forms the core of one of the largest and most important nature reserves in Germany, which primarily serves as a resting area for numerous rare bird species. Due to its large body of water and its mild climate, it remains ice-free for a long time. A total of 235 bird species have been observed here since 1990. Mobêlha-pequena and Mobêlha-árctica are regularly seen. As are Grou-comum, Tundra Bean Goose, Ganso-grande-de-testa-branca, Pato-fusco, Merganso-de-poupa and Merganso-pequeno. Also rare guests such as Ganso-pequeno-de-testa-branca, Falcão-de-pés-vermelhos, Rola-do-mar, Falaropo-de-bico-grosso, Falaropo-de-bico-fino, Gaivina-de-faces-brancas and Gaivina-d'asa-branca can be seen here. On good days, up to 2,000 ducks and just as many seagulls can be seen on the lake.
