Dégrad Yaya - Sud is a narrow creek and the location (in the primary forest of the interior of Guyana) offer the possibility of observing a higher concentration of animals as well as species that are rarely or not at all present on the Guyanese coast. Among the birds you can observe are Great Tinamou, Little Tinamou, Rusty Tinamou, Marbled Wood-Quail, Variable Chachalaca, Black-bellied Cuckoo, Long-tailed Potoo, White-winged Potoo, Common Potoo, Crimson Topaz, Straight-billed Hermit, Grey-winged Trumpeter, King Vulture, Swallow-tailed Kite, Foothill Screech-Owl, Tawny-bellied Screech-Owl, Crested Owl, Amazonian Pygmy-Owl, Guianan Trogon, Green-backed Trogon, Collared Trogon, Guianan Puffbird, Rusty-breasted Nunlet, Black Nunbird, Brown Jacamar, Bronzy Jacamar, Great Jacamar, Green Aracari, White-throated Toucan, Black-necked Aracari, Channel-billed Toucan, Yellow-throated Woodpecker, Golden-green Woodpecker, Collared Forest-Falcon, Barred Forest-Falcon, Caica Parrot, Dusky Parrot, Painted Parakeet, Scarlet Macaw, Red-and-green Macaw, Todd's Antwren, Spot-tailed Antwren, Dusky Antbird, Blackish Antbird, White-browed Antbird, Variegated Antpitta, Spotted Antpitta, Rufous-capped Antthrush, Black-faced Antthrush, Cinnamon-rumped Foliage-gleaner, Buff-throated Foliage-gleaner, Crimson Fruitcrow, Guianan Red-Cotinga, Capuchinbird, Olivaceous Schiffornis, Pink-throated Becard, Ruddy-tailed Flycatcher, Whiskered Flycatcher, Boat-billed Tody-Tyrant, Cayenne Jay, White-banded Swallow, Green Oropendola, Riverbank Warbler, Red-billed Pied Tanager, Rose-breasted Chat, Amazonian Grosbeak, Bay-headed Tanager, Black-crowned Tityra, Buff-breasted Wren, Rufescent Tiger-Heron, Green Ibis, Marail Guan, Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Ladder-tailed Nightjar, Lilac-tailed Parrotlet, Gray-headed Kite.

Français: Le Degrad Yaya, est situé sur la crique Beiman entre Apatou et Grand-Santi la zone est en forêt primaire de l'intérieur, difficile d'accès sur un court séjour. La crique peu large et le lieu ( en forêt primaire de l'intérieur de la guyane) offre la possibilité d'observer une plus forte concentration d'animaux ainsi que des espèces peu ou pas présentes sur le littoral guyanais.

To get to Dégrad Yaya - Sud it is mandatory to take a pirogue (boat) from Saint-Laurent du Maroni or from Apatou. As previously said the journey is a bit laborious and if you only have a short time in Guyana I do not recommend the site.

Français: Pour se rendre sur le site il est obligatoire de prendre une pirogue depuis Saint-Laurent du Maroni ou depuis Apatou. Comme dit précédement le trajet est un peu laborieu et si vous n'avez que peu de temps en Guyane je ne vous conseil pas le site.
