The Seudre estuary is home to a large portion of the population of the nanmetum subspecies of the Pisco-de-peito-azul, which is endemic to the French Atlantic coast. With a bit of luck it can be observed here (other good spots are the Pointe de la Coubre, Marais de Brouage and RNMO). Some breeding birds of the Moulin des Loges reserve are alvéola-amarela, Rouxinol-bravo, Andorinha-das-chaminés, Pernilongo and more.
Nearby Colhereiro and different heron species, such as Socó-taquari are breeding, as well as Andorinha-do-mar-comum. Besides from that you can observe Marreco during spring migration, Íbis-preta, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Águia-cobreira, Combatente, Maçarico-de-bico-direito (keep your eyes open for the islandica subspecies), Narceja-comum and many more species (see the list below). The open landscape also allows good observations of migrating passerines, like Cartaxo-nortenho, Papa-moscas-preto or Chasco-cinzento. On the nearby fields you can observe Perdiz-comum, Tarambola-dourada (only during winter), Abibe-comum and Trigueirão. Note that in end of August the hunt for waders and ducks begins, which makes good observations harder.

Moulin des Loges is located 3 km southeast of the town of Marennes. The reserve has a parking. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
