Marais du Douhet is particularly interesting because it brings together a great diversity of species, sometimes in high density and at all times of the year.
Among the nesting birds are the Perna-vermelha-comum, the Pernilongo, the Rouxinol-bravo, the Fuinha-dos-juncos, the peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro or the Pato-branco. During migration, the Falaropo-de-bico-grosso or the Rabirruivo-preto are passing through. In winter, Ganso-de-faces-negras, Tarambola-dourada and Abibe-comum are stationed on the site.
All year round shorebirds, ducks, gulls, herons, grebes and many others are present.
