La Butte de Frochet contains heather-covered moor environments which are protected, but also remarkable rock formations that are remnants from volcanic activity in the distant past. It is a kind of ridge with rocky points that protrude above the landscape, lying in an area of about 30 hectares. There is a walking route that shows you the highlights of the nature reserve. There is a nice point of view on the North (you can see the Civray power station) and on the south, the department of Charente.

La butte contient des milieux de landes qui sont classés en ZNIEFF, mais aussi des amas rocheux remarquables. On a une point de vue dégagé et lointain sur le Nord (on aperçoit la centrale de Civray) et sur le sud, le département de la Charente.
