Descrição
Forêt Domaniale de la Coubre is a large forest with pine trees, holm oaks, locust trees and open areas with broom/whin scrubs. The open and clear-cut areas are particularly interesting from an ornithological point of view. They are home to the rare Felosa-do-mato, Cotovia-pequena and Noitibó da Europa. Petinha-das-árvores and Cuco-canoro can be observed on the edges of the open areas in spring. Chapim-de-poupa and Felosa de Bonelli are also a regional peculiarity and are rarely found anywhere else in the department.
In early summer, with a bit of luck, you can also hear Mocho-d'orelhas calling. Águia-cobreira can sometimes be observed flying overhead. There are rare reports in late summer and fall of Franga-d'água-grande at the extinguishing ponds that exist in the forest. With a bit of luck, you may also come across red deer. There is a good trail network in the forest with several hiking routes that are color-coded, so it's best to find a route that suits you.
