The Kuningatar peninsula has a variety of birds species from gulls, water fowl, warblers, waders and birds of prey. It's especially great spot to spend the early mornings of the migration season. The coastal meadow of the peninsula is a protected nature reserve and it's possible to spot birds like Felosa-dos-juncos , Escrevedeira-dos-caniços , Maçarico-bastardo , Perna-verde-comum and some snipe species. Gavião da Europa , Açor , peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro and Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis also patrol the area in hopes of catching some smaller birds. Garça-real is also often seen in the area.
Pica-pau-malhado-grande and Pica-pau-preto are common woodpeckers and some birders have also seen Pica-pau-de-dorso-branco in the forest. During spring and early summer the forest of Kuningatar is filled with bird songs. You can spot Felosa-musical , Felosa-comum , Felosa-assobiadeira , Tentilhão-comum , Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca , Papa-moscas-preto , Trepadeira-do-bosque , Andorinha-das-chaminés , Chasco-cinzento , Cartaxo-nortenho , alvéola-branca and Pisco-de-peito-ruivo in the area.
The furthest point of Kuningatar, on top of the rocks is a good spot for bird watching with a telescope. Birders have seen a wide variety of birds especially during migration seasons. Among the most interesting birds spotted with a telescope are Arau-d'asa-branca. Birds like Eider-edredão , Pato-de-cauda-afilada , Merganso-grande , Merganso-de-poupa , Zarro-negrinha , Pato-olho-d'ouro , Ganso do Canadá , Cisne-vulgar , Alcatraz-comum and Gaivina-de-bico-vermelho can be observed with and without binoculars too. Some lucky birders have spotted Guarda-rios-comum in the area too.
