There is a small community on the island. Skuvoy which is named after the large number of Moleiro-grande breeding there, is an island with a rugged coast, steep cliffs, boulder-screes and grass slopes. The cliffs are breeding sites of Fulmar-glacial , Pardela-sombria , Paínho-de-cauda-quadrada , Arau-comum , Arau-d'asa-branca , Papagaio-do-mar and Gaivota-tridáctila . Maçarico-galego are breeding on the grassland.

There is a passenger ferry operating the route between the more northern island Sandur and Skuvoy several times per day (mostly only on request). Travelling time: 35 min. Departure times may vary due to adverse weather conditions. The bus 101 is connecting Thorshavn and Gamlaraett, where a ferry brings you to Sandoy.
