Tissø is the 4th largest freshwater lake in Denmark. It is easy to acces and overlook. Tissø is home to a rich and varied birdlife and Águia-rabalva breeds here and it is easy to see. Also Águia-pesqueira can be seen. On the lake itself Mergulhão-de-crista, Merganso-grande, various dabbling and diving ducks, geese and Galeirão-comum are usual residents. The beach meadows and reed beds house many foraging and breeding birds like Alfaiate, Andorinha-do-mar-anã, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis in addition to Abetouro-comum, Chapim-de-bigode and Felosa-malhada.

Almost all of the lakeside is on private hands, but there is a publicly accessible birdwatching tower near Fugledegård. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. From there it's a 500 meter walk to the observation tower.
