The beach meadows of Nivå Strandeng are an important resting place for migratory and wintering birds all year round. In the spring, resting waders such as Ostraceiro , Pilrito-comum , Maçarico-das-rochas , Fuselo can be seen, and also birds of prey migrating and many Pato-branco. In autumn, flocks of Ganso-de-faces-negras , Piadeira and Abibe-comum roost in the area. Mergulhão-de-crista , Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, Cisne-bravo , Ganso do Canadá, Arrabio, Piadeira, Zarro-negrinha and Pato-olho-d'ouro visit the area in winter.
All year round you can see flocks of Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas , Gaivota-argêntea , Alcatraz-comum. Birds of prey are also seen and peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro , Águia-d'asa-redonda and Gavião da Europa nest in the area.

Nivå Strandeng is located east of the town of Nivå along the bay of Nivå (Nivåbugten). You can take the train to Nivå. From the train station it is about a 1,5 km walk to Nivå Strandeng. If you are by car or bike, you can park along the road. Press P on the map for directions to the parking spot. From there it is a short walk to the observation tower.
