Descrição
Margrethe Kog is a very flat area and mostly very windy as well. But there are thousands of birds, particularly Ganso-de-faces-brancas are usually there in large numbers. Margrethe Kog was made in 1982 when a higher dike was needed further out in the marsh. One third of the kog consists of Saltvandssøen, a saltwater lake, that gets fresh saltwater pumped in to maintain salinity. There is a project underway on the eastern side of the kog to improve breeding sites for meadow birds. Among the birds you can encounter here are Arrabio, Maçarico-real, Alfaiate, Perna-vermelha-comum, Pilrito-comum, Combatente, Abibe-comum, Ostraceiro and Colhereiro. Best month to see the most species of waders is July.
