The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Garça-pequena (the only location of this species in Prague), Felosa-unicolor, Frango-d'água, Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Galinha-d'água or Escrevedeira-dos-caniços. Also the Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Mergulhão-de-crista, Galeirão-comum, Pato-real and a few pairs of Zarro-comum and Zarro-negrinha. In the linked rural areas breed Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Felosa-malhada, Rouxinol-comum and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Andorinha-das-barreiras.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Pisco-de-peito-azul, Cartaxo-nortenho, Cartaxo-comum, Papa-moscas-preto, Marreco and many other species of waterfowl, Narceja-comum, Abibe-comum and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Estorninho-malhado murmuration. Also Andorinha-das-chaminés and alvéola-amarela come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!

Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the north of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to station Dolnoměcholupská and then 30 minutes walking using the biking trail. It is possible to make a circular route, but only the eastern side of the pond has a paved road.
