The Nature reserve Nový rybník is an important breeding site for many reedbed birds such as Pisco-de-peito-azul, Frango-d'água, Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços, Felosa-dos-juncos, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Galinha-d'água or Escrevedeira-dos-caniços. On the pond itself breed many pairs of Guincho-comum (the only occupied place in Plzensky region), Ganso-comum, Galeirão-comum, Pato-real and a few pairs of Frisada, Zarro-comum and Zarro-negrinha. In the rural areas and meadows breed Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Felosa-malhada, Felosa-palustre, Papa-amoras-comum, Rouxinol-comum, Laverca and many others.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Cartaxo-nortenho, Cartaxo-comum, Marreco, Gaivina-preta and many other species of waterfowl. In last years Grou-comum is a regular guest here, especially in spring time. In late summer and autumn there is little water, which is suitable for Narceja-comum, Abibe-comum, Maçarico-bastardo and other waders. In winter Picanço-grande is a regular visitor.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Estorninho-malhado murmuration (thousands of birds). You can also see Andorinha-das-chaminés and alvéola-amarela.

Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the south of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to the city of Líně and then 20 minutes walking using the unpaved road.
