The Kamares aqueduct was built in the Roman style in 1746 by the Turkish governor of Larnaca, Bekir Pasha. There are more than 20 arches still intact. The aqueduct is surrounded by water, marshes and some reedlands. A cobbled area with benches and a footpath allow you to enjoy this monument, with a path linking it up with Larnaca Salt Lake. Birds you can see here are Abibe-esporado, Rola do Senegal, Pernilongo and Garça-branca-pequena.

The beautiful 18th century Kamares aqueduct can be found on the road heading towards Lemesos in the area of Kamares, which takes its name from the distinctive arches (‘kamares’ in Greek).
