Descrição

The University of Guelph Arboretum offers a rich variety of habitats, including woodlands, meadows, wetlands, and gardens, making it a prime birding destination year-round. With over 400 acres of diverse landscapes, visitors can explore scenic trails, open fields, and lush forested areas that attract a wide range of bird species.

In spring and summer, look for vibrant warblers, Eastern Bluebird, and Scarlet Tanager in the woodlands. Wetlands host Great Blue Herons and Wood Ducks, while meadows attract Tree Swallow and Bobolink. Fall migration brings flocks of sparrows, thrushes, and raptors like Sharp-shinned Hawk. In winter, the Arboretum remains an excellent spot for spotting Northern Cardinals, Black-capped Chickadees, and sometimes Snowy Owls.

What makes the Arboretum special is its accessibility, educational signage, and peaceful natural setting. It provides an immersive experience in nature, perfect for both beginner and experienced birders. Whether you're seeking a quiet walk or an exciting rare bird sighting, this site offers something unique in every season.
