Very good mosaic of different habitats, providing suitable conditions for big variety of birds of different groups. Traditional and nature friendly agriculture practices allowed presence of birds as Rolieiro-comum, Poupa, Picanço-pequeno, Mocho-galego and other. The cliffs on the slopes provide nesting sites to the Trepadeira-rupestre, Cegonha-preta, Corvo and other. On the stony and bushy slopes Perdiz-chukar, Chasco-ruivo, Felosa-das-oliveiras, Toutinegra-carrasqueira, Toutinegra-de-cabeça-preta and Toutinegra-oriental can be seen. Gavião-de-pé-curto keeps to the tree belts along the river, where Ógea can be observed, too. Cegonha-branca nests in the little hamlets in the area are nesting sites of the Pardal-espanhol.
