Trektelpost De Zigeuner is located near the airport of Deurne and consists mainly of fields, groves, a watercourse and water basin. This piece of nature next to an airport (therefore a view of, among other things, OLV churchtower in Antwerp Center) and sports fields as well as a caravan park, the last farm of Mortsel and Fort van Borsbeek (there is still Rouxinol-comum) attracts quite a few birds. Breeding birds such as Perdiz-cinzenta, Mocho-galego, Abibe-comum, Cartaxo-comum, Verdilhão-comum and Pintassilgo. The area is also suitable hunting ground for birds of prey such as falcão-peregrino, Ógea, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro, Gavião da Europa, Águia-d'asa-redonda, coruja-da-igreja / coruja-das-torres and Bufo-pequeno.

Nederlands: Trektelpost De Zigeuner ligt bij de luchthaven van Deurne en het agrarisch landschap rond de telpost is het eerste open, ‘groene’ gebied ten oosten van de stad Antwerpen. Het gebied bestaat voornamelijk uit akkers, velden, bosjes, een waterloop en waterbekken. Dit stukje natuur naast een vliegveld (daardoor zicht tot op o.a. OLV Toren in Antwerpen Centrum) en sportvelden alsook een woonwagenpark, de laatste boerderij van Mortsel en Fort van Borsbeek (daar zit nog Rouxinol-comum) trekt aardig wat vogels aan. Broedvogels zoals Perdiz-cinzenta, Mocho-galego, Abibe-comum, Cartaxo-comum, Verdilhão-comum en Pintassilgo. Het gebied is ook geschikt jachtterrein voor roofvogels zoals falcão-peregrino, Ógea, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro, Gavião da Europa, Águia-d'asa-redonda, coruja-da-igreja / coruja-das-torres en Bufo-pequeno.
Tijdens de trekperiode voor vogels, wordt de telpost in het gebied regelmatig bemand. Dit gebeurt zowel in het voorjaar (maart-april) als in het najaar (half augustus-midden november).
