The Simli Duinen are part of a cross-border protected nature reserve “West coast-Dunes de Flandre”, between Dunkirk in France and Westende in Belgium. This protected natural area is part of the European Natura 2000 network. Birds you can find here include papa-amoras-cinzento, Pintarroxo-comum, Cuco-canoro, Gavião da Europa, Felosa-icterina, Felosa-malhada and Pica-pau-malhado-grande.

Nederlands: De Simli Duinen in Nieuwpoort zijn vrij jonge duinen met een heel reliëfrijk landschap. Ze zijn ongeveer 30 hectare groot. De duinen zijn onderdeel van een grensoverschrijdend beschermd natuurgebied “Westkust-Dunes de Flandre”, tussen het Franse Duinkerke en het Belgische Westende. Dit beschermd natuurgebied maakt deel uit van het Europees Natura 2000-netwerk. Vogels die je er kunt aantreffen zijn onder meer papa-amoras-cinzento, Pintarroxo-comum, Cuco-canoro, Gavião da Europa, Felosa-icterina, Felosa-malhada en Pica-pau-malhado-grande.
