Park Schoonhoven and the fish ponds of Aarschot is an ideal place for novice bird watchers. In addition to the most common forest birds, you will also encounter some water birds here. You have a good chance of finding Ganso do Canadá, Pato-real, Frisada, Ganso do Egipto and Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas.
The area was previously a camping area. The city of Aarschot has removed the former campers and small chalets. The area is now making way for grassland and the focus is on more nature in the area. With a view to the future, this area will be transformed into a recreation domain.

Nederlands: Park Schoonhoven en de visvijvers van Aarschot is een ideale plek voor beginnende vogelaars. Naast de meest algemene bosvogels kom je hier ook enkele watervogels tegen. Zo tref je hier met grote kans Ganso do Canadá, Pato-real, Frisada, Ganso do Egipto en Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas.
Het gebied was voordien een kampeerterrein. Stad Aarschot heeft dit park onder handen genomen, waardoor de vroegere campers en kleine chalets zijn verwijderd. De stalplaatsen maken nu plaats voor grasland en men focust zich op meer blauw in het gebied. Met oog op de toekomst wordt dit gebied omgetoverd tot een ontspannings- en recreatiedomein.

It is best to park in the parking lot behind the Oh'Green Aarschot garden center (Diestsesteenweg 80, 3200 Aarschot). Click on the P in the map for directions. At the Aarschot Schoonhoven bus stop the following lines make a stop: 30 - 390 - 392 - 591 - 596. The mentioned bus lines pass by Aarschot station. The surrounding areas are all accessible, only Schoonhoven Castle is private domain. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 5 km.

Nederlands: Parkeren doe je het best op de parking van achter tuincentrum Oh'Green Aarschot (Diestsesteenweg 80, 3200 Aarschot). Bushalte Aarschot Schoonhoven laat toe om pendelaars hier te stoppen met volgende lijnen: 30 - 390 - 392 - 591 - 596. De vermelde buslijnen passeren langs het station van Aarschot. De gebieden rondom zijn toegankelijk, enkel Kasteel Schoonhoven is privé-domein. De op de kaart aangegeven rondwandeling is ongeveer 5 km.
