Marselaer is a nature reserve with great variation. Lying along the stream Grote Molenbeek you will find grasslands and wet woodland, pine forest and a small heathland. The Lippelobos is an old forest and castle domain of the still inhabited castle Hof te Melis. Together with the surrounding agriculturural fields, this forms a beautiful area.
The Marselaer nature reserve is located around the now demolished Marselaer Castle. Since the castle was surrounded by ponds, it was also popularly referred to as the "water castle". You can walk on the winding forest paths and along the avenues. During rainy periods in winter, several plots can be flooded.
Among the bird species that you can encounter in Marselaer - Lippelobos are Gavião da Europa, Açor, Coruja-do-mato, Bufo-pequeno, Guarda-rios-comum, Pica-pau-preto, Pica-pau-mediano, Pica-pau-malhado-pequeno, Papa-moscas-preto, Rouxinol-comum, Papa-figos, Galinhola and Chapim-de-poupa.

Nederlands: Marselaer is een natuurgebied met grote variatie. Liggend langs de Grote Molenbeek vindt men er grasland en nat bosgebied, maar verderop even goed dennenbos en een heidegebiedje. Het Lippelobos is een oud bos en kasteeldomein van het nog bewoonde kasteel Hof te Melis. Samen met de omliggende landbouw vormt dit een fraai gebied.
Het natuurgebied Marselaer ligt rondom het inmiddels afgebroken Kasteel van Marselaer. Omdat het kasteel omringd was door vijvers, werd het in de volksmond ook wel het "waterkasteel" genoemd. Je kan er wandelen op de kronkelende bospaden en langs de dreven. In regenrijke perioden in de winter kunnen verschillende percelen onder water staan.
