The Grote Getevallei is a valley with a mosaic of grasslands, hedgerows, ponds and small woodlands, with the Grote Gete flowing through the centre. The valley has been preserved from intensive arable farming. Some of the meadows flood every winter, and remain under water until well into spring. You will find typical species here such as Maçarico-real, Cartaxo-comum, Felosa-icterina , Rola-comum. A suitable habitat is created for Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo.

Nederlands: De Grote Getevallei heeft een mozaïek van graslanden, heggen, vijvers en kleine bosjes, met de Grote Gete die erdoorheen stroomt. De vallei is gespaard gebleven van intensieve landbouw. Sommige weilanden overstromen elke winter en blijven tot ver in de lente onder water staan. Je vindt hier typische vogelsoorten zoals Maçarico-real, Cartaxo-comum, Felosa-icterina, en Rola-comum. Er is ook geschikt leefgebied gecreëerd voor de Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo.

The Grote Getevallei is located between Linter and Zoutleeuw. There are several areas where you can park. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking. On foot you can explore the Grote Getevallei along old paths and the Getedijk. The circular walk shown on the map is 14 kilometers, but can easily be shortened to a shorter walk.
