Most of the time people visit this nature reserve during the summer. But also during the winter and migration period you can see intersting bird species. The area is famous for the Noitibó da Europa which you can see during the summer but in the winter you can see the Picanço-grande. Other birds you can encounter in the area are Pato-olho-d'ouro, Águia-pesqueira, Ógea, Esmerilhão, Cegonha-preta, Trepadeira-azul, Corvo, Grou-comum, Pica-pau-preto and Coruja-do-mato. Rare visitors are Águia-rabalva, Petinha-dos-campos, Garça-roxa and Pernilongo.
